WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION INTERNATIONAL HEALTHY CITIES CONFERENCE
‘Changing cities to change the world’
Celebrating 30 years of the Healthy Cities movement
CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
Submission Deadline: Friday 13 April
The 2018 International Healthy Cities Conference takes place in Belfast and also marks thirty years of the Network and the global Healthy Cities movement.
The Conference presents the opportunity to learn from the work of healthy cities globally. It attracts politicians and key decision-makers from within cities, as well as technical experts.
Thousands of cities worldwide are part of the Healthy Cities movement, and their diversity is one of the movement’s greatest strengths. The Conference offers the chance for cities to engage with their counterparts from all over the world, and to benefit from the experience that the Network has to offer.
The call for abstracts refers to papers submitted by delegates for the Learning through Practice sessions and poster sessions during the 4 days of the conference.
We are inviting abstracts on the 6 main themes of the conference:
People: a human focus to societal development that prioritizes investment in people to improve equity and inclusion through enhanced empowerment.
Place: the social, physical and cultural environments that align to create a place that is actively inclusive, and that facilitates the pursuit of health and well-being for all.
Participation: ensuring the participation of all individuals and communities in the decisions that affect them and the places they live, work, love and play.
Prosperity: enhanced community prosperity and strengthened assets through values-based governance of common goods and services.
Planet: ensuring that the protection of the planet is at the heart of all city policies, both internal and external.
Peace: promoting peace through inclusive societies that focus on places, participation, prosperity and the planet, while putting people at the centre of all policies and actions.
